other smart me

This piece is part of a news paper project we did in global studies in my sophomore year as way to review what we had learned about WWI and WWII. It was interesting doing this project because i felt like i was presenting a case to someone and had presented it well ( I Also got a 90 or 95 0n it)

Did or did not the treaty of Versailles cause WWII

As you may now the treaty of Versailles was the treaty that officially ended WWI; blaming Germany and requiring it to pay heavy reparations to the allies who had won the war. This caused a lot of things, like the fall of the Austro-Hungarian empire, the weak economy in Germany, an unstable government, also the rise of a fascist leader IN Germany because of the many political parties that no one agreed on nothing. Also the rise of other fascist leaders in Italy, Japan and Spain. This treaty that gave “birth’’ to the league of nation is also to blame for the war for not making sure that the peace was kept
The treaty its self was to harsh overall. The error of the Treaty of Versailles, was that it made Germany pay all reparation. Instead, what they could have made the reparations equal between Germany and the Austria-Hungary empire. Then the reparations could have meet the demands of the treaty of Versailles and then the government of Germany would have money (even if it was a little bit) to help the people and step by step have jobs to help Germany recover from the war. An example of what the government of Germany could have done with the money saved would be to make things in factories that would help clean up Germany and things that where needed to help Germany recover from the war. With these things the factories would be making a profit and then more production would have been made. This would have made jobs for the people of Germany and companies would be making money and the economy would have recovered little by little . (But because the opposite happened and then Germany started attacking every one the League of Nations failed to stop them and other fascists leaders in order to prevent war. They gave into appeasement.
But since all the blame was put on Germany, AND they had to pay heavy reparations. So the government had to print more money and then the value went down causing an inflation. Soon things cost a lot and people couldn’t buy regular things.
The treaty of Versailles that DID caused WWII. If these things never happened (like the bad economy and the inflation of prices)the people of Germany would have never I REPEAT NEVER would have wanted revenge.

To believe or not believe

As I sat in the living room staring at the television I still couldn't believe what I had just heard. My mind was racing 120 miles an hour with a million thoughts. apart from owing my wonder full cunada a favor, I was wondering if my best Friend from childhood had killed that reportero from "El Diaro". Even though there was visible evidence of a bite mark the smallest corner of me was hopping Sapo wasn't the one who had killed El Reporters. like my mama used to say "la ultima cosa que se pierde es la Esperanza", and for me that's what I was doing, hoping. and to top things off i knew that when Blanca found out about this she was going to question me for god knows how long. I was hopping her pregnancy would make her to tiered to ask questions but in a tiny corner of my mind I new there was no chance of that EVER happening. This also added to the wonder full list of reasons why i wanted to break all sorts of ties with Bodega as soon as possible. the sooner the better and i was hoping the sooner would come faster.

This is one piece of work I had trouble with because I thought i grasped the idea but I didn't really. ( I got some of it tough) even so I think it was a good train of thought. This piece is also based on Ernesto Quinones book bodega dreams.

The American dream

When people hear the American dream they see that as a opportunity for a better life and a better future. We see some similar conflicts with chino and bodega from Ernesto Quinones book “bodega dreams”. bodegas dream is to bring up Spanish Harlem and all the Hispanic people who live in it. Chino is a young collage student who is about to graduate from hunter collage, who is also married and who’s wife is expecting a child soon.
Willie bodega is a drug lord who’s turf is in Spanish Harlem . Through selling drugs and collecting money from other dealings, he uses the money and starts people out by finding them jobs or a place to stay. With the younger people he pays for their collage tuition so that they can graduate and become professionals sooner. He wants to bring up Spanish Harlem and its people, he want to better their lives so that they aren’t looked as a low class anymore.
Chino, (also known as Julio) is a young almost collage graduate from hunter . He is also about to become a father. Since there is a child on the way he wants to find a better place to live by the time the baby arrives. In a way this is chinos idea of a American dream, to get a better living place for his wife and his kid. He knows its going to be hard to achieve this and when the chance comes by to make his goals come true he takes that chance.
Bodegas and chinos way of seeing things are differently . Chino wants a better place for his wife and kid. He always has is mind focused on what’s around him and on the future. Bodega is trying to relive the past, that unfocuses him from his goals and messes his plans. You can always learn from the past and make a more better choice than from your past choices. But trying to relive it may not always work in your favor.

This is one pice of english work that i think i did well on . this essay is based on ernesto quinones book bedega dreams and it talks about many things but to me it talked more about the american dream and what it signifies. the book gives diffreint point of veiws from most of the characters on what they think the american dream is to them . thats what i dicided to base my essay on

I GO TO JAPAN

After much planning and lots of Japanese lessons of Japanese crammed into a month I was finally on my way to Japan. After my plane landed in Tokyo (also my first stop) I got my rental car ( a Toyota ) I drove to my hotel for the night so I could get a good start the following day. After I ate a huge breakfast, I was on my way for the for the trip. As I drove around Tokyo I drove past the most important buildings in the capital like the Toyota company where I test drove a few of the cars . (so awesome!). After I went to an arcade where I played a drifting game to test my skill. Turns out I stunk and sometimes I kept crashing the cars on purpose just for the fun of it ( it was fun!). After I left I was better at the game than when I started. After I drove a short drive to Chiba where I went to … Disney world! I went in and bought a whole bunch of tickets and the went straight to the water rides where I went on them repeatedly. Afterward I had to go change because I was soaked to the bone (it was also a bit windy, luckily I didn’t catch cold or it would have ruined the trip). Afterward I went and had a bunch of junk food. Especially the dango and the Yokisoba (after ward I was completely knocked out when I got to my hotel room ). After I awoke again (and ate breakfast . Cant forget about it ) I drove to Osaka and went to the famous Tsutenkaku Tower which is considered a icon for many who live there as well as a symbol that represents their city. After exchanging my dollars to yen so I could pay for my entrance fee I went in side . The guide of the tower had seen me ex change my money and asked how I new how much I should be getting back. I told her about the conversion from dollars to yen and showed her an example. After I was on the viewing platform I went down ad went around trying some of the food from the stands in the street. ( the dango was the best) After spending my day in Osaka I drove to Kyoto . I arrived in the night so I just went to a hotel and slept . After getting up getting ready I started my way around Kyoto . I went to the temples and the bamboo gardens which where really, REALLY peace full . After I tried some of the food from Kyoto . Of course I couldn’t go with out trying it . (teriyaki, yakuniku,Yokisoba, dango, ramen, pocky, yan-yan, steamed pork buns, White rice, !!!!!!!!!!!). After I let my stomach digest I went full speed ahead to Hamanaki. When I got to Hamanaki ( and after getting of the hook with the police for speed drivin. They thought I was a clueless foreigner ) it was really late so I just went to am hotel to check in and go to sleep. When I woke up from a VERY good sleep I went around hamanaki which is famous for their geisha . I went to the learning school an got a chance to talk to a maiko and a full fledged geisha . They taught me a few tricks with their fans ( I got the hang of it after a few go’s and after dropping my fans so much . And after replacing a fan that broke. They where made of paper. ) I also leared a few notes on the koto, a Japanese instrument. Before I left they presented me with a very beautiful kimono with a cherry flower design on it. The following day I went back to Tokyo to return home (but first I went to the shops and bought gifts. ). And thus concludes my trip to Japan.
